At Screenloop we kept running into the same gap: the people conducting interviews had never actually been trained to conduct them. We knew the subject cold, structured interviewing was the core of the product, so we decided to teach it, in bite-sized courses our customers could work through on their own time.
Video was the obvious format. Producing it the traditional way was not. A camera crew, actors, editors, an outside agency, all of it priced for a company with a marketing budget we didn't have, and none of it flexible enough to survive a product update six weeks later. Outsourcing quotes came in high, and every one of them locked us into content we couldn't easily change once it shipped.
Synthesia solved the actual constraint, not the surface one. The workflow became: write the script, drop it into the editor, pick an avatar, layer in screen recordings, generate. No studio day, no reshoot when a feature changed, and a full video going from idea to finished asset in about five days end to end.
The numbers made the case on their own. We cut the cost of a finished video by roughly £1,700 against traditional production, which added up to a 500% reduction in the video budget line. That's the kind of saving that turns "we should build a training platform eventually" into "we shipped one this quarter."
Seven courses in within the first few weeks of launch, rolled out first to a subset of customers while we watched how they were used. The plan since has been to open the library to every customer and keep expanding it, each new course still produced the same way: at a desk, without a crew.
